10[d](P) An excellent wife who can find?
She is far more precious than(Q) jewels.
11The heart of her husband trusts in her,
and he will have no lack of gain.
12She does him good, and not harm,
all the days of her life.
28Her children rise up and call her blessed;
her husband also, and he praises her:
30(AG) Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain,
but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.

What an incredible reminder of the wonderful gift our wives are to those of us blessed to have one. I confess my failure to show adequate appreciation and honor to a gift God gave me that I did nothing to deserve, in fact an unworthy to have been entrusted to have. I must continually be on my face in prayer for her, on my knees adoring her, and on my feet helping and providing for her needs by God’s amazing grace. She is a pillar of strength, grace and compassion, talented and faithful with little complaining and incredible patience. Praise God for her, thanks for the words Solomon (God).

1The words of King Lemuel. An oracle that his mother taught him:
2What are you doing, my son?[a] What are you doing,(A) son of my womb?
What are you doing,(B) son of my vows?
3Do(C) not give your strength to women,
your ways to those(D) who destroy kings.
4(E) It is not for kings, O Lemuel,
it is not for kings(F) to drink wine,
or for rulers to take(G) strong drink,
5lest they drink and forget what has been decreed
and(H) pervert the rights of all the afflicted.
6Give strong drink to the one who(I) is perishing,
and wine to(J) those in bitter distress;[b]
7(K) let them drink and forget their poverty
and remember their misery no more.
8(L) Open your mouth for the mute,
for the rights of all who are destitute.[c]
9Open your mouth,(M) judge righteously,
(N) defend the rights of(O) the poor and needy.

Leaving his readers with a final charge, especially his “sons,” Solomon speaks to strength. Self control and being “alert and oriented” are key to living out wisdom. Leaders have followers because of this- under pressure a leader is rock steady. And Solomon knows this, and so he encourages men to be strong for the weak, to practice justice, and to remain self controlled. What a challenge for men today.

So going to go with honesty again here…

Hard for me to read Proverbs 31 without feeling guilty and sad and at the same point disappointed that I never even come close to matching the Wife of Noble Character.

What an amazing woman she must have been. What a blessed and tired woman she was. Successful and kind.

Verse 25: She is clothed in strength and dignity,; she can laugh at the days to come.

Awesome.
